MEDICAL CHECK UP

Medical Check Up is Highly Recomended

At Kilimanjaro Climb, we take safety very seriously. We highly recommend that all climbers get a medical check up before attempting to summit Kilimanjaro. High altitude trekking has its own set of risks, and a medical examination can also reveal any unknown issues that could be a factor in the climb. It is important that climbers are aware of any issues that may arise and are prepared for any situation. A medical check up is the best way to ensure a safe and successful climb.

Medication and Prescription

Ask your doctor if any of your regular medications may have adverse effects at altitude, as this can affect how the medication works and could even be dangerous. Make sure you have enough of your regular medication to last the duration of your trip, as it may not be available in the country you are travelling to. If you are travelling to a different time zone, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how to adjust your medication dosages.

Climbing Kilimanjaro With Asthma

Climbing Kilimanjaro with asthma is a challenge, but it's not impossible. It requires careful preparation, monitoring and medication management. Those with mild to moderate asthmatic conditions can safely climb Kilimanjaro with the help of a knowledgeable guide and doctor. It is important to be aware of potential asthma triggers such as cold weather, physical exercise, and allergies. Be sure to bring your inhaler and other medications, and to discuss your asthma plan with your doctor prior to your trip. It is also important to be aware of altitude sickness, which can be a serious problem for those with asthma. Finally, be sure to stay hydrated, rest often, and follow your asthma plan to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

Age Restriction to Climb Kilimanjaro

The minimum age for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is 10 years old and there is no maximum age limit.

Heart Rate

It's important to ensure your heart rate is in a healthy range when planning a trip to climb Kilimanjaro. Generally, your resting heart rate should be between 60 and 100 beats per minute, and your maximum heart rate should be between 220 and your age subtracted from 220. Staying within these limits will help you maintain your energy and avoid overexertion.   Our requirement is that your resting heart rate is below 100 beats per minute.  We will check your heart rate before the the climb and you'll need to get a permission from a local doctor if it's above 100.
