PASSPORT VALIDITY

Your passport is the most crucial document you need when traveling to Tanzania. Make sure it’s valid for at least six months beyond the date of your arrival in the country. It’s also recommended that you carry a few photocopies of your passport with you, just in case your original document gets lost or stolen while you’re in Tanzania.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Most travelers to Tanzania need a visa to enter the country. Luckily, it’s possible to obtain a visa on arrival at the airport or land border entry points. However, it’s essential to confirm if your country of origin is eligible for a  visa on arrival before booking your flight. Some countries are not eligible for a visa on arrival, which means you’ll have to apply for a visa before your trip. Don’t worry, though, the application process is pretty straightforward.

The cost of a Tanzanian visa for US citizens is $100 and other nationalities, it's $50, payable in US dollars. Confirm with your embassy.

ELIGIBILITY FOR VISA ON ARIVAL

To be eligible for a visa on arrival in Tanzania, you need to be a citizen of one of the many countries that are allowed to enter and stay in the country without a prior visa. The good news is that many countries  are included in this list, including Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and most European Union countries. However, it’s still crucial to check if your country is included to avoid any unwanted surprises upon arrival.

DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR VISA ON ARIVAL

To ensure a smooth visa on arrival process, you’ll need to have the following documents ready:

- A valid passport with at least six months of validity

- A printed copy of your return flight itinerary

- Sufficient funds to cover your stay in the country

- A passport-sized photo

It’s important to note that the visa on arrival process can be time-consuming, so it’s best to arrive at the airport or land border entry point well-prepared with all the necessary documents. Additionally, make sure to have some cash on hand as the visa fee is paid in US dollars or euros.

 

VISA APPLICATION PROCCESS

If your country is not eligible for a visa on arrival, don’t panic! You can still obtain a visa through the embassy or consulate of your destination country. The application process can vary depending on the country you’re traveling to, so it’s important to do your research before starting the process.

 

Typically, you’ll need to fill out an application form and provide supporting documents such as your passport, travel itinerary, proof of accommodation, and proof of financial means. You may also need to provide a letter of invitation from a sponsor in the destination country.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VISA ON ARIVAL AND E-VISA?

The difference is that if you have obtained the visa ahead of time, you'll have it easier at the airport upon your arrival in Tanzania.  You won't have to go through the process at the airport.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA AND E-VISA?

Applying for a visa to Tanzania has never been easier, thanks to the introduction of the online visa system.  To begin the process, you will need to complete the Tanzania Visa Application Form, which can be found on https://visa.immigration.go.tz/. It is important that you answer all questions accurately and completely to avoid any delays or rejections. You will also need to pay the required visa fee, which can also be done online. Once you have completed and submitted your application electronically, you can track the progress of your visa application online.
