Where Will I Be Sleeping?

Everyone climbing Kilimanjaro must camp unless you're climbing Marangu route, the only route that offers hut accommodation.  Getting enough sleep is an essential part of an enjoyable experience on the mountain that's why our porters make it easier for you by carrying all of the camping equipment and also set up the camp for you.

Huts vs. Tents

Most trekkers camp on Kilimanjaro, as just one route offers hut accommodation.  Getting enough sleep is an essential part of an enjoyable experience on the mountain and it is very important to be well prepared with the right equipment to be both warm and comfortable.  Kilimanjaro has 8 routes, out of which only Marangu route offers hut accommodations.  The Marangu is one of the oldest and most popular Kilimanjaro route where you sleep in A-frame dormitory-like huts that provide mattresses and other basic amenities. This makes the route a popular choice for budget operators that don’t have camping equipment. We only recommend choosing this route if you really don't want to camp.

On all other routes, climbers will sleep in our state of the art, four-season mountain tents during the trek.  On your Kilimanjaro adventure, our Mountain tents are a flawless fit for they are spacious, waterproof, and heat-resistant.  Our goal is to ensure that climbers who may feel uneasy about extended camping periods are provided with maximum convenience, warmth, and relief from moisture during their stay. Our tents are sturdy and reliable, but also comfortable enough to sleep in after a long day of hiking.

State of the Art Tents

The tents provided by North Face are truly state-of-the-art. They're designed specifically for the toughest mountain conditions.   Whether it's high winds, heavy snow or rain, these tents are built to keep you safe and warm.  Our three-person mountain tents are also roomy and will accommodate two people. After a long day of trekking, you want to be able to stretch out and relax in a comfortable space. These tents are designed with that in mind – they're spacious enough for two people to comfortably sleep.  They also have large vestibule and dual doors providing extra space for the gear.

Foam Sleeping Pads

Every climber will receive a sleeping pad made of foam measuring 1.5 inches.  You don't need to bring additional sleeping pads unless you want to use your personal one or want to double up on pads, as these sleeping pads are superior to any commercially available option.  Our sleeping pads have ample thickness, warmth, and comfort that cater to even non-campers. Majority of our customers are pleased to discover how hassle-free sleeping becomes while on our excursions.  To ensure hygiene, the pad is enclosed within a cover that can be washed.
